**What is Panchayati Raj?**

Panchayati Raj is a system of self-government in rural areas through village councils. 'Panchayat' means village council; 'Raj' means rule.

**Three Tiers of Panchayati Raj:**

1. Village Level: Gram Panchayat (led by Sarpanch)
