A few weeks ago, StudyOS let you upload your own notes or textbook photos and get an AI-generated study kit from them. This week, we quietly removed it. Here's why.
The idea was simple โ not every student studies only from NCERT. Some have extra notes from school, a photocopied worksheet, a photo of the whiteboard. So we let you upload that and get a mind map, flashcards, and MCQs generated from it, on the spot.
Two reasons, and we'd rather just say them plainly.
Almost nobody used it. Out of everyone who has come to StudyOS since we launched, only a handful of study kits were ever generated this way. Nearly every student was already getting what they needed from the 900+ NCERT chapters we have pre-built โ mind maps, flashcards, MCQs, notes, board questions, all ready instantly, no upload required.
And when it was used, it didn't always work well. Phone photos of notebook pages are often large files. Our upload had a 10MB limit, and a lot of genuine attempts โ a student photographing four pages of handwritten notes on a slow college Wi-Fi โ failed right at the finish line after a long upload. That's a bad experience to put someone through for a feature almost nobody was reaching for anyway.
Rather than patch a feature with near-zero usage, we removed it and put that time back into the thing that actually matters to almost every student on StudyOS: making sure every NCERT chapter, for every class and every subject, has a complete study kit ready the moment you open it. That's where the effort belongs.
If you were one of the few who used upload โ we see you, and we're sorry for the disruption. If you have notes outside NCERT you wish StudyOS covered, tell us. We're listening for what to build next, not attached to what we already built.
Every NCERT chapter, ready instantly โ no upload needed.
